While hitting the sites inside Philly, we stopped by the Philadelphia Art museum on our way out of town. It took about four hours to go through everything (including catching some lunch at the cafe). The museum is large and has quite substantial holdings of paintings and sculptures.

One of the things that interested me the most was all the period specific rooms in the museum. These would be set up at a period and location specific room with furniture and furnishings, with the artwork worked in to the overall layout. I am a fan of these pictures of time displays, as I think it gives just a little insight on. how people lived and aesthetics of the given period. I wish more museums would do this!

Well, the most interesting part of the museum to me and the one I took the most pictures of was the arms and armor exhibit. Since this is an historical gaming blog, I figured this would also be the best portion to share.

The number of artifacts covering the renaissance really surprised me for a museum located in the US. You do not normally see this much, unless there is a visiting display. Suffice to say, it was really impressive.

I always enjoy looking at the craftsmanship of older ancient weapons and armor, so I spend a good deal of time going through the rooms. Very impressive! I had to hit the Rocky statue on the way out of coarse, just to get some pop culture in too!
