While setting up my last Pulp game, I rally wanted to have some wagons to use as scatter terrain. Unfortunately, I had a number in my collection, but they were all unfinished! So, that gave me the inspiration to pull out some models I had bought some time ago. These were all Blue Moon models that I purchased from Old Glory Miniatures at one of the HMGS conventions.
Blue Moon makes a whole bunch of different wagons to cover all time periods and even fantasy. I wanted some to cover my gaming around French and Indian War and fantasy. I grabbed different ones to give a variation of styles.
All Blue Moon models are caste in metal. Casting quality is of a nice standard without much flash. All models are multi part. Usually with separate wheels supports and railing. A little hobby knife work and I then glued everything together with super glue.
I decided to go with dark brown wood overall for all of them. So, I sprayed them with some Krylon camo dark brown. Next was a black wash over the entire model. I then drybrushed them up three layers of brown and tan. I hit the metal areas with GW contract black and then a highlight of gun metal and silver.
Some dull coat spray and they are all ready to go. An easy project, with some nice models and now I have some wagons for my next town set up! If you are looking for a variation of wagons for your collection and do not have an issue with metal kits, Blue Moon is the way to go. They are inexpensive and the line is exhaustive. I may be picking up a few more at the next con myself….
