I have been collecting Star Wars Legion for a few years now. Unfortunately, I have n to played as much as I would have liked. With that said, that does not stop me from painting more! One of the neat things about legion is the way they handle movement. You basically measure from the command figure and move all your troops around the final spot. Movement is measured using a custom range ruler that hinges in the center. You simply place once end of the ruler against your figure base and bend the ruler as needed. The figure can then move up to the distance along the ruler. For most vehicles, there are notches in the bases to control the direction of movement (many cannot move sideways for example).
Well, the last couple of times I ran the game, I found we were having a few challenges with the rulers. My first problem was I lost one of the ends of the speed three gage! Another was we kept misplacing them on the table (they did not stick out enough). Finally, quickly spotting the right gage was sometimes an issue.
Looking online, I saw a lot of players painted their rulers. This seemed like a good idea, from both an aesthetic perspective and would help with the other problems. I bought another set of rulers online to five my missing part issue (which I found once I got the new one of course).
I decided to go with a white set (which became two)and a black set. So, out came the spray paint. To make the rulers distance more obvious, I opted to paint the hashes on them red (on the white) and white (on the black). Some sealant spay and they were wrapped up.
Over time they will wear, but that will make them look even more Star Wars related! So, a simple project that I hope improves play. Now I just have to get off my rear and set up another game!
