I recently went online to the Peter Pig catalog to fill in some holes in my WWII collection. With the holidays sales going on and the great USD/GBP exchange rate, it was a good time. I recently posted some FT17s that I ordered, but I also ordered some of their turret bunkers. I thought these would be nice to have to represent some of the fortress fighting in some of our 1940 games.
Peter Pig makes these bunkers as two piece models. The bunker itself is cast in resin. The gun is separate and caste in metal. The resin had no flash, but has a nice rough effect to give some relief. I assembled the models with some supper glue to get them ready to paint.
I opted for a green scheme, so started with some medium green spray paint to prime and color them. I then hit them all with Vallejo green armor wash. This was followed by a medium OD heavy drybrush. I finished with a tan drybrush, hitting the panel areas a little heavier, to give some sun bleaching effect from long term exposure. I finished with some Tamiya spray dull coat to flatted them down.
It was a quick project and I am happy with the result. These are nice little models for anyone looking for similar terrain (Eben Emael anyone?) and it is a good time to order before the exchange rate kicks back up!
