One of the things sitting on my painting table was a couple of 20mm scale German AFVs from SHQ. I picked these up a long time ago. They had a basic paint job, so I thought it was a good starting point. I decided the time had come and I needed to get them into the collection.
I kept it simple. I hit the model with a wash of Vallejo tan wash, with some black spot washes. I then hit each color with some heavy dry brushing of tan, green and brown. Unfortunately, the tan was Tamiya Dark Yellow and it did not quite apply as I would have liked (maybe it was too old). In for an ounce, in for a pound. I went with it and then hit everything with some lighting tan to pick up the highlights. Not my best work, but good enough.
The SHQ models are all metal and easy to build (I had a couple of repairs that I did first). The are well detailed. As with all metals, they have some heft! They are older kits, but still hold up well. With these, I now have a couple of vehicles for my Germans that I have been wanting for a while.
