It was time to finish my Cad Bane figure finally came. It was one of my first models I purchased for the game. Cad Bane was one of my favorite characters from Clone Wars, so I had to have one. I started the figure shortly after buy-in it, but set it aside for some reason. With the new release of the Shade Collective and a new Cad Bane card, I got thinking of my mount hunters. It was time to clear up the backlog!
My thought was that I would use GW contrast paints to paint this figure. I started the figure with a white primer coat. I then hit the various areas with the respective contrast color. Brown for most of the clothing and leather items, blue for the flesh and black for the lower body cloths and boots. I did all that and set the figure aside to dry. Well… I guess a year is enough time to dry….
I finally got back to him last week. I went back and hit all the areas painted with highlight colors to give more contrast and fix any blotchy effects. I used different browns, to give some variations. I was still not totally happy with the cloak, hat and straps, so I hit these with different GW brown washes. I then highlighted them again with different browns. That worked, so I then worked the black areas. I added silver and grey to various accessories, highlighting the latter. I opted to add some color buttons to his greaves and of course hit red eyes!
I wrapped up with my normal basing of brown, GW technical earth, a dry brush and a Gamers Grass spiky tuft. I then hit the model with some dull coat to finish it up. Finally, I have my Cad Bane ready for the tabletop! I guess I should now get one of those Bossk models too?
