I have had a couple of Star Wars Legion characters sitting on my painting table that I started a while back that needed to be completed. One of these was my Anakin Skywalker for Star Wars Legion. You cannot do Clone Wars without Anakin. Well, I stared painting him. but got held up on trying to paint the red brown of his clothes. When you look at pictures, this sometimes looks brown, other times dark red, you also see dark violet and finally black.
I did not want brown or black, so figured the dark red brown would be the way to go. Unfortunately, I did not have a paint color that worked. So, this ended up being a layering exercise. I started with chocolate brown and highlighted it with red drown. This came out to brown, so I then hit the model with some Reikland Flesh and red washes. This seemed to work so I was off to the races!
Next I hit the black areas with black and highlighted these with different shades of grey to give a variation between the tabard, boots and glove. The hair was painted brown with a brown was and highlighted a few shades of brown. I painted the face and hand with flesh, added a wash and a few highlights. Painted in the eyes and lips and eye brows. I finished with the light saber with silver blue and washes over each.
Next was the base with my usual GW technical earth of brown and a drybrush. Finished up with a spiky tuft and a dull coat spray.
Now, I finally have my Anakin ready to go. I have placed him in my display case next to my Padme miniature, so they can discuss the consistency of sand.
