One of the things that comes to my mind when I think of Star Wars are all the different kinds of droids that show up all the time in every set piece stage. As such, I thought it would be nice to start adding random droids to my terrain set ups as background terrain. They will not be used as any type of troop, just more terrain. That is not to say that I will not use them for their intended purpose once and a while!
So, I painted up a few models that I had for that purpose. The first was a medical droid from the SWL Rebel specialist set (I misplaced my R5 from the set, but will get to that), an R2 resin caste I found on Etsy and a toy that I came across.

I decided to paint the R2 as one of Obi Wan Kenobi’s R6 droids (I have Obi Wan, so it was just the right thing to do). I started with a spray of tan, with a wash and highlight. I added red and bronze with some washes and a bit of black.

The medical droid was very easy. Spayed it dark silver and hit it with a black wash. I then hit the model with a silver drybrush and added some red and white details.

The toy was sprayed brown and then dry brushed up two levels of bronze and gold. A little red and white was added on some of the details.

I attached all the models to the Star Wars Legion bases, to give myself flexibility. So, I went with my standard basing. I started with a dark brown, then hit it with GW earth technical paint. That is followed up with a drybrush of Iraqi Sand and a spiky bit tuft from Gamers Grass. Everything is finished with a spray of matte coat sealer.
