I was so happy with my completed Fiat armored cards, I decided to paint the other Italian models that I bought. Namely, four Semovente 90/53 kits. I had given up trying to get these from battlefront and wanted them for my Italian forces fighting in Sicily in 1943.

The kits are all done in grey 3D printed resin and comes in three pieces. You get the hull and suspension as one piece, the gun and the fighting compartment. I cleared a few bits of flash from the bottom of the treads and glued everything together with supper glue. Being all resin, the kits have a nice weight to them. I find plastic model to light for gaming and have to add a little weight to them. On the opposite end, I find the metal models too heavy, which shows up when you are carrying them! These seem to be just right!

I could not decide which scheme to paint these. I considered camouflage, but diced to with the Italian European green. Frankly, it was easier…. I started with a German Field Grey spray to prime and base coat the models. I Next I painted all the treads grey. After that, I applied a black wash to the entire kit. Next was a Vallejo German Uniform wet brush to the entire kit (not the black areas) and then a Vallejo Iraqi sand light dry brush to the entire model.

The next step was to add some decals. I had some of the new Battlefront decals I picked up recently. I opted to go with the unit markings on the upper superstructure sides and license plates to the front. I finished up with a Dull Coat spray. With that, I finally have some Semovente 90/53s.
