I had picked up two boxes of CIS Specialist troops last winter and quickly painted up most of the droids in the set. However, I had sprayed the tactical droids separately and set them aside, only to misplace them! Well, while organizing my unpainted legion miniatures, I found the two tactical droids and sat down to finally finish them!

I wanted to go with a CIS blue for one of the droids, but I wanted a different color for the second one to differentiate it on the tabletop. I decided grey would work, as it would also match my BX troops. When showing up in the Clone Wars, these droids were always different colors and schemes. Just to add more color, I went with a larger portion of the minis having color.

I started by spraying the models tan. I then painted the tan areas with Vallejo Iraqi Sand, the blue areas using GW contrast blue and all the grey and black areas with GW contrast back. I then hit the blue areas with some Vallejo electric blue and the gray areas with Vallejo London Gray. I also highlighted the black areas with London Gray as normal. I added some details I tan in various places. I finished up painting the eyes white and the emblems matching the primary color

The basing is my usual dark brown covered in GW cracked earth with a tan drybrush. The required spiky tuft was added and the minis where dull coated. With that, I finished these two sets and now have some low cost commanders for my CIS forces!
