Part of my recent purchase of models from Acheason Creations was a little 28mm tower. I liked the look of it and through it would look good in fantasy games and would work for Saga games. It is a nice size that will fit on the table, without dominating the terrain. Something to add, before the company closes this summer.

The model comes it two pieces cast in Acheason’s normal light gray resin. There is a shingled roof that has some nice interior detail (not sure why this was done, I must say) and the actual tower section. The model has nicely caste detail with no air bubbles or flash. All the detail is heavy, making painting easy to do.

I started painting the model by spraying it with gray primer. The next step was to hit it with a heavy wash of Woodlands Scenics black wash. I just squirt it on the mini and spread it around, wetting my brush as a I go. This gives a super heavy stain wash. It takes a little time to dry, so I left it for another day.

I came back to it the next time I sat down to paint. I dry brushed the entire model with some medium craft gray and then two lighter shades of gray. I hit the stone area with a heavy dry brush of the lighter gray. I then hit the stone area, the steps and the stone frames around the door and windows with a final white dry brush.

Next, I hit the roof with some Vallejo Luftwaffe Uniform and then two lighter shades of blue grey (I do not remember to specific names). I finished by adding a metal tip to the roof and painting all the doors and shudders. This started with coat of GW contrast brown, followed by a dry brush of red brown. I finished up the model with a coat of matt sealer from Army Painter. I am happy with how it turned out and might have to work on some other Acheason stuff!

Now that I see it in the photos, I will probably go back and add a few spots of flock to the rock and steps….
