Another web surfing sale item! I was checking out Game Kastle sale tab and came across these ruin sets from Kromlech. Cromlech makes all sorts of terrain and conversion bits for Sci Fi gaming. There were two sets available, so I picked them both up. These would give me another option for my Legion gaming.
The sets come in a clear plastic pack and are individual pieces. They come in a grey hard resin and have no flash, except on the bottom. This is easily removed, since you do not have to worry about aesthetics, since it is on the bottom. I trimmed mine with an X-Acto.
I sprayed the parts with some medium grey spray paint. Later, I hit the models with some black wash from Scenic Effects. After that dried, applied three drybrush layers, each a lighter shade than the last. These were craft paints to save some money.
I noticed that there were a few little sections of rebar in a number of the sections at this point… No worries, I grabbed some GW contrast brown to give a rust look and applied this to each protruding part.
I wrapped up with a Krylon Dull Coat spray paint to seal the models. This was a test for some larger ruins I have to work on. I am happy with the look using the craft paints, so I will use the same technique on the rest of the ruins.
