What attending the recent History-Fall-in-a-con, I of course had to spend a lot of time in the vendor hall. This seems to be necessary, as I have a need to spend way to much money at these events. I guess the first part of recovery is admitting you have a problem….
Well, while running the gambit of dealers selling their wares, I came across some sets of 28mm Boxers painted by Big Battalions. I have seen these before, but always passed them by (they normally had badly bent weapons). The two sets being sold this time looked quite nice to me. I did not see any damage and I liked that they had a more random color pallet. I have been thinking of getting some boxers, as I think they make a solid East Asian warlord or gang group that would work well in Pulp scenarios. As such, I pulled out my credit card and picked them up.
The first set comes with figures holding spears and pikes and the other with figures holding random hand weapons. They will mix together on the tabletop, as they have the same painting style. They we4re done well shaded, following a modified Foundry painting method. They all came on plastic disc bases and were fully ballasted and flocked. Looking them over, they looked perfect and I do not feel I have to do anything with them to pimp them up (a rarity for me!).
I would say if you are looking for some painted 28mm figures to get your army started fast, you should definitely look at the Big Battalions repainted box sets!
